Were you a fan of the Vampire TV Show Angel too? Angel is probably one of the most successful spinoff TV series in recent times. Having been featured as a supporting character and love interest of Buffy Summers in the highly successful television series, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Angel finds his own voice on the TV series Angel.
Angel first appeared in Buffy The Vampire Slayer as a kind of dark and mysterious guardian angel to Buffy Summers, the one and only vampire slayer. But later he is revealed as a vampire, but with a twist.
He is cursed to have a soul and must therefore atone for all his sins and he can never know true happiness. If he has so much a second of real happiness, he will lose his soul and revert back to his evil ways - the ways of Angelus, his previous, soulless incarnation.
However, he falls in love with Buffy and their tragic love affair begins. Eventually after spending the night with Buffy, he does lose his soul. Luckily, however, it does get restored but not before he does a lot of damage to all his relationships in the town of Sunnydale. After this tragic turn of events he realizes he cannot be around Buffy and moves away to Los Angeles for a new start, and of course the start of his new TV show.
This is where the TV Show Angel begins. He is alone in a new city, looking for a way to start fresh and live a new life. However some old characters soon resurface to join him. Cordelia, from Buffy The Vampire slayer, is cast in the role of the sympathetic warm heart of the group, and Doyle, a half demon, half human character who receives visions from the mysterious “Powers that be” about the future joins up with them. Wesley Wyndam-Pryce joins up soon afterward.
Along with a host of other demons, Angel and his merry team of companions seek out the evil forces present in Los Angeles in their quest to help the needy. Overall, the TV Show Angel is fun and witty, filled with great one-liners, and it does take an interesting and often unusual look at topics like vampirism, occultism, prophecies, and even corporate greed.
One of Angels biggest enemies is Wolfram and Hart, an evil law firm that basically represents Hell and all it's devious and evil hellions. W&H defend demons and all manner of vile human beings too. They truly push the idea of the evil lawyer to the nth degree! Additionally, they seem to completely driven by greed and evil and are completely intent on ruining Angel and his friends.
Although the main character of the show is a vampire, it should be noted that vampires do not form the central plot of this show. Overall it is about atonement and the never ending and sometimes grey battle area between good and evil. Angel is a show that is heavy in visual stimulus in the form of the various demons, ghouls, monsters and creatures - the makeup budget for this show alone had to be astronomical.
He convinces his friends, Cordelia, Fred, Gunn and Wesley to follow, and they encounter a whole new onslaught of villainous demons, warlocks, beasts and vampires that are out to get the humans. There is an endless list of characters to choose from if you wanted to for Halloween, such as Lorne (the green demon skinned clairvoyant), Angel in his black coat, Cordelia and her many incarnations, Gunn with his crossbow, Darla as the evil pregnant vampire.
On these types of holidays alone you could look no further than the TV Show Angel for inspiration. The list goes on and on. There are even some demons and other monsters that no one would recognize as being from this show!!
Overall, if you are a vampire fan like me I would have to rate this show as a must watch. And if you are a Buffy fan you will definitely want to see it too. I especially liked that it wasn't overly gory or filled with "adult themed" scenes. In fact, I wouldn't think twice of letting older kids watch this show because of the content.
If you like watching a show with a definite plot line, good one liners and witty dialogue, sometimes dramatic, sometimes funny, and wanted to see vampires interact with humans in a way other than as a food source I would have to suggest that you check the TV Show Angel out. If I am awake at 6:00 in the morning again, I am definitely going to watch the TV Show Angel to see what other monsters he slays. Very cool!

"You're not friends. You'll never be friends. You'll be in love till it kills you both. You'll fight, and you'll shag, and you'll hate each other until it makes you quiver, but you'll never be friends. Love isn't brains, children, it's blood -- blood screaming inside you to work its will. I may be love's bitch, but at least I'm man enough to admit it." -- Spike, Buffy the Vampire Slayer
